Modern Slavery Statement
The steps we take to identify and prevent modern slavery and labour exploitation in the labour supply chains we work in.
About this statement
This statement sets out the steps WE CONTRACT LTD, trading as WECGROUPS, takes to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our own business and in the labour supply chains we operate within. It applies from our incorporation on 28 August 2026.
The duty to publish a statement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 applies to organisations above a turnover threshold. We publish this statement whether or not we currently meet that threshold, because we employ temporary workers and we think the commitment should be visible.
Our business and supply chains
We are a UK umbrella company. We employ contract and temporary workers placed by UK recruitment agencies and administer their pay, tax, National Insurance, pension and statutory entitlements. We do not source, place or supply workers to end hirers.
Our own supply chain is short: payroll software, pension administration, banking and payment services, insurance, and professional advisers. Our exposure to modern slavery risk sits mainly in the labour supply chains we sit within — the agencies that place workers with us and the end clients those workers attend — and in the sectors those assignments fall in.
Our policies
We do not tolerate modern slavery, forced or compulsory labour, human trafficking, or any form of labour exploitation, in our business or in any organisation we work with. Our position is supported by our recruitment and onboarding procedures, our complaints procedure, and the supply agreements we issue to agencies.
Due diligence and the controls we operate
Several of the controls we operate as an employer are also modern slavery controls. In particular:
- Right to work verification. We check every worker's right to work before an assignment begins, using a share code or original documents. We cannot process pay until this is complete.
- Bank details in the worker's own name. We do not pay into third-party accounts. Repeated requests to pay several workers into one account are a recognised indicator of exploitation, and we treat them as such.
- Direct contact with the worker. Every employee signs their own contract of employment, receives their own Key Information Document, and gets an itemised payslip showing every deduction.
- National Minimum Wage and Working Time compliance. Pay is calculated against approved hours, and workers are protected under the National Minimum Wage and Working Time Regulations.
- Agency due diligence. Before we work with an agency we verify its company details, VAT registration and insurance, and we reconcile timesheet and rate data every pay period.
- A single PAYE scheme. We do not fragment our workforce across multiple entities, an arrangement HMRC has linked to mini umbrella company fraud.

You can also report concerns to the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, or call the Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121 700. In an emergency, call 999.
